 Hello families,

We will be tie-dying our plain t-shirts for our Grade 5 Send Off on Thursday, June 22. Please make sure that your child has brought in their white shirt to be able to participate. Additionally, please make sure that your child wears clothes that would be okay to get potential dye on it. 

We will be having our school-wide Play Day on Friday, June 23. This has a special theme to it: Western Wear! This means you can come dressed with denim and plaid in good 'ol Calgarian fashion! Students are asked to make sure that they dress for varied weather and bring a water bottle. Students can come with sunscreen, but will be responsible for applying it themselves. Students will be given freezies as a treat on Play Day. If you DO NOT want your child to have the freezie, please email me as soon as possible and send an alternative snack for your child instead. If I do not receive an email, that will mean that your child has permission to have the treat. 

(The ingredients are: Water, glucose-fructose/sugar, citric acid, simulated flavours, sodium carboxymenthyl cellulose (stabilizer), sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate (to maintain freshness, stevia extract, colour.)


Today we...


We finished up our science presentations about severe weather!


We learned about the importance of the Summer Solstice and learned from Elder Saa'kokoto. We had a circle discussion around the buffalo robe and talked about the new flags: Treaty 7, Metis, and Inuit.


To celebrate the buffalo, we did an art project! We will be completing them tomorrow!

Happy Friday, families! Thank you to those who have filled out the surveys for our Grade 5 Send Off! Also, thank you for taking the time to get a t-shirt for your child to participate in our tie-dying day! Please try to complete the survey and send a t-shirt before Wednesday, June 22. Happy Monday, families! Today was a fun day in grade 5! It felt like it went by so quickly! We played kickball outside in the baseball diamond. We reviewed some fraction questions that were difficult. We read a REALLY important part of "City of Ember"! Ask me what happened! We listened to the Nose Creek Honour Band. We wrote about what we know and wonder about weather. We learned about the Underground Railroad.  GRADE 5 SEND OFF Parents or guardians can join us in our Northern Lights School Gymnasium for a short picture slide show highlighting some memories from the year, a frozen treat, and an opportunity to take a picture of your child with your child's teacher if you would like. You will be sitting on the floor with your child during the slide show, so please bring a small blanket to lay out. (A few chairs will be available if you have mobility challenges.) Hello families! Just a reminder - there is no school tomorrow (Friday, June 9) as there is a PD Day. I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday! Today we... Worked hard on our fractions practice! We will be having our final check in next week. We worked on creating Book Reviews for our novel studies! We planned a trip to a place in the world based on their climate. Ask me where I wanted to go!
